Thanks. Judging by what some people have said it sounded like you needed Core 2 Duo to run Leopard.

I think Core Duo aren't 64-bit processors or whatever. That might be where the confusion came in.

You both think into it too much:
    - FireWire was gone from Apple's "future of notebooks" since the beginning of time (2008:rolleyes:)
    - Thunderbolt is not replacing USBs, it's a supplement to DisplayPort (and can connect to both display and peripherals simultaneously)

    Thanks.

Minimum wage needs to be increased, national healthcare needs to be implemented and tax holes closed. This country would be in a lot better shape as far as it's lower classes go, imo.

Min wage should be 10/ hour.. possibly 11 with the way this country is heading...

And replace backlight with Braille print? Cool, it would save some battery juice at night. By the way, I don't look at the keyboard when typing. Are you?

I don't need it either, but it looks cool :)

Breaking a glass window means you can shoot someone in the head? Wow... He may be a criminal but that doesn't mean the security guard should've shot him.

Then what justifies being shot? If someone raped a family member of yours, they deserve to just be put in jail and get out in a few months, right? This is justified, nuff said!

Well I can already listen to my music on my MacBook, iPad and iPhone so why would I want it?

Maybe you wouldn't. I could see a use for it myself - I have a library of music so big you couldn't fit it all on any existing iPhone, and it's annoying to be out someplace and wanting to listen to a song, but you can't because you had to exclude it from your last sync. It would be preferable then for me to be able to link my iPhone to my music library and just have Apple deliver everything to me on demand... be it from the hard drive at home or from a central location.

Of course, how this is all implemented will play a big role in whether the service is useful to me or not. If I can't listen to the CDs I bought and imported into iTunes for example... that's a dealbreaker as far as I'm concerned.

    Since 1984:
    Cmd-X = Cut
    Cmd-C = Copy
    Cmd-V = Paste

Grab will snap a picture of a window, the entire screen etc. There is also print to PDF.

Drag and drop to move a file.

I use both.... and all I can say is "CUT and paste". Windows has had it for years, OS X SL doesn't. Same with window snap.

I love OS X, but, like with a lot of Apple products, its the "little things" that matter...

Both are great operating systems, and I will continue to use both since I cannot run Visual Studio on Mac, or XCode on Windows... :)

Apple's whole new "black is top of the line" trend is thoroughly idiotic. I literally removed my credit card from my wallet when I read on the event stream that Apple had released an 8gb nano, then replaced it when I read on about the 8gb model being black only. I hate black electronics. I want an aluminum 8gb iPod to match my PowerBook. Is that so much to ask?? Fine, if they want to only allow black for 8gb, but why limit us. Stupid stupid stupid.

Apple should produce a really light and small MacBook Air: 400 to 600 g and 7-inches. The Mac in your pocket. Always.

    You have big pockets!

3mps???? are sure its not supposed to be 1.3?

I don't recall the brand of the phone, but I've seen a cellphone with a 5MP camera here (in South Korea). The phone was rather big, but it'd be an o.k. format if it doubled as an iPod with decent storage space.

EDIT: And I don't follow cell phones all that closely, so there might be higher-res ones that I haven't seen.

As someone looking forward to buying my very first Mac desktop; I must say this is a pretty lame rumour. 'Sandy Bridge'? 'Thunderbolt'? Nothing surprising; everyone here was expecting these two items. I want more specific rumours!:p

    The wait continues...:(

Don't forget the possibility of better graphics and SSD as standard, now thats gotta be worth a grin :)

A number one customer in their electronics division that accounts to a whopping 4 % of Samsungs sales

The reliance Apple has on Samsung is much more than that Samsung has on Apple...

maybe maybe not. My guess is Apple would be hurt more since Samsung would have a fairly easy time filling up most of those lost orders. Reason why is because shortage of those type of parts. Everyone is fighting over them.

Samsung is one of Apple largest suppliers.

"Empathy" is a four-letter word in America, sadly.
I must be wearing my RED-WHITE-Blue boxers today or something, but how can you make a comment like that.

The noun meaning for empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

Do you honestly believe that Americans do not practice this.

Are we a perfect people. No, but who is. I think at the end of the day we do more good than bad.

Let me see... wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya... high unemployment in the USA. Cost of energy is killing the average guy in the pocketbook. I know... lets spend our time getting those terrible DUI apps out of the app store... that way we can tell our Constituents what a great job we are doing representing them in Washington.

    PS

Don't forget to vote (them out).

^ Agreed. While this is a gray area indeed, these politicians really have much bigger fish to fry.

Amazing! I totally agree, I don't mind paying higher taxes here for better services and better rights.

I know someone who works in the public sector was told to get his working hours down because he was working more than the amount he was supposed to by law in his job. Was told to get it down to 42 hours a week I think.

Guess that would never happen on your side of the pond!

About 30 years ago, his holiness Ronald Reagan fired over 11 thousand Air Traffic Controllers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Air_Traffic_Controllers_Organization_(1968)) for going on strike. One of their most important demands was for a 32 hour week, so that they would not be falling asleep on the job.

Today, a bunch of the scabs he hired to replace those controllers are retiring, putting a great deal of pressure on the system. If nothing else, I think the 32 hour week is a good idea if you like flying and arriving safely. Sadly, Reagan's firm stand has left us in a perilous situation, with controllers snoring in the tower and planes landing without help. So the NTSB's solution is to require that they get at least 9 hours between shifts, which I think is pretty scary.

Most of us would prefer these guys fresh and alert. All we need is one impressive crash (that will be blamed on this president) to get this issue really pushed to the forefront which will probably result in a controller getting fired and no real improvement to the system.

Welcome to America, take a moment to find out where the nearest emergency exit it, bearing in mind that it might be behind you.

The police should not be able to detain you without probable cause. PERIOD. If you are doing nothing wrong the cops should not stop you, EVER.

It's the reason they publish notice of checkpoints -- you're considered to have consented to being stopped if you drive through a checkpoint after notice has been published.

It's why I'm shocked Congress is targeting an app that gives that notice. They're attacking the very leg of Constitutional support these checkpoints stand on.

    Just FYI...

File size wouldn't affect performance at all, as long as you're copying between locations on the same drive. The "file" that you see in the GUI is actually a link to a location on disk where your data is; all the OS has to move is the link, which is very tiny.

That's correct for "moving" a file, but not for "copying" a file. A "copy" needs to be just that - I can edit the copy without changing the original. If the two directory entries are links to the same file, then a change to the "copy" would modify the "original" - which is cleary unacceptable.

Bookmark this and pull it up in 4 years...

Are you suggesting that an internationally respected technology analysis firm might have more of a clue than the fans on MacRumours? ;)

I assume the screen would be a touch screen. I would hate to start dialing numbers using the click wheel.

"The click-wheel portion of the device reportedly slides down to reveal a traditional numeric dial-pad underneath."
someone was too excited to read the whole thing :p

I've never once even hinted that anti-viral software would be helpful on a Mac. But apparently you wish I had made that 'argument' (even though you just made an absurd claim that I haven't presented as argument...and so why are you even replying with a counter-argument? That is called a logical absurdity. ;) ) Sophos does, however, make free software that deals with over 100 possible threats to OSX.
I just love the irony! You state that you haven't claimed AV software would be useful and in the same paragraph claim that it can deal with 100 possible threats! :p

You're quite the Snake Oil salesman.
