Wrong. As I posted, the expression as typed here is ambiguous because its interpretation depends on the conventions used. It has nothing to do with understanding or not mathematics. Both 2 and 288 are correct answers, according to the conventions you used.
I don't get why some people think that "/" is somehow a separator or something. That is a mystery to me. But the original expression could be interpreted as 48/(2*(9+3)) if you're in the juxtaposition=grouping clan.

Why on earth should Apple "go with" a company like Verizon or anybody else?
Just sell the phone unlocked and let anybody with GSM service pop their sim into their iPhone. Perhaps make an unlocked CDMA phone as well.
If they have it right with this phone and there is then therefor the sort of demand for it that we have seen for the iPod, the providers will be forced to offer it according to how Apple dictates (can put music on using computer, etc.), rather than disabling the phone to suit the company's marketing schemes, and the providers will offer it at a discount to attain/retain customers.
You guys seem to think that the service providers dictate what phones we use. Beyond having to be compatible with the network that we choose to use (GSM or CDMA), they don't. I haven't gotten a phone from a service provider for years as I need a phone that I can pop a sim into that is appropriate for whatever country I am in.

Perhaps it's possible for Apple to create their own wireless data network to access the net on the phone. It would be accessed via standard Wifi. Very similar to the Nintendo WiFi connection.
This is of course if the phone is real. Even if it was, it wouldn't be at WWDC. You people here take these rumors too serious. It's like a few others have mentioned: a tech-unsavvy photographer? Please. Photographers are the most tech-savvy people on earth. Especially considering that alot of them are indie-hipster art majors, they are obviously consumed in Apple products and the latest and greatest gear from Canon, Nikon and the like. And there has to have been an NDA. My analysis: Apple is spreading rumors just for ***** and giggles.

I feel like the iPhone 5 coasting in on iOS 4.x would imply a smaller upgrade. Otherwise a mega update to .x that could just as well be called iOS 5. (which seems less likely) Or this rumor is bunk.

SI is superior in conversions only
Imperial is superior as I actually have a feel for the numbers
I also have a better feel for imperial units, but wouldn't someone who has grown up with SI have a great feel for those units?
The conversion to SI would be confusing for those who haven't grown up with it, I know I would have a bit of trouble getting used to it, but after a generation or two everyone would be used to SI.

On that subject, auto companies do this within their own brands. Ford will make a Lincoln and a Mercury that is the same as a Ford model but with a different name on it.
I never understood that about the auto industry. If you buy up competition and keep the name around instead of folding the acquisition into the one brand, then do something unique with each brand. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury for instance should divide up product lines between brands. Ford could be brand name of the truck line while the other two are brand names for luxury and compact cars for instance. But the experts will say this is silly. LOL

$1099 is very reasonable, esp if it is a quality product�
at that price consumers are going to evaluate features, longevity�

So far I think the phone calls sound fine for the person on the other end, and OK on my end; at freeway speeds my car is loud so I have to listen carefully.
I think the mount's GPS chip signal is actually routed through the dock connection. Just phone (and app voice, if necessary) connect through bluetooth. Maybe this is because Apple doesn't let non-audio devices of any sort to connect through bluetooth; if they did, then we'd all have been using external bluetooth gps receivers long ago.

Actually, you can get by with a mid/high level iMac now for most graphic design needs (photoshop, illustrator, etc) these days and even average video editing needs
MacPros are really now for higher end video and 3D applications or those that really need to get their work done fast and rendered fast.
Actually, if you go blow for blow, building a PC that has the same specs (and that means same specs across the board down to the minor details), they really aren't that far off. Some magazine did that one time and they were within $300 of each other.
oOo, cool, I wasn't aware! You learn something new everyday.. Just goes to show how much and how fast technology seems to be progressing today! Surprised to hear about the PC build too - then again, I really only check New Egg, and piece together all the parts that I would want hahaha
I agree on MBPs being somewhat overkill for some people - I bought mine just before the Sandy Bridge ones came out because my old BlackBook just couldn't handle the HD iPhone 4 video like I thought it could (again, I don't even do much, just edit family vacation videos and Photoshop pictures in bulk).. With my MBP, it's super swift when editing, and rendering takes no time at all - I can't even imagine how much faster the new Snady Bridge ones must be!

well I called back and upped the ram to 2 gigs which is what i consider the base really.
I just didnt want to go running around looking for ram to get to work.

While they continue to manufacture them and build up a large inventory, we may have to endure these other product announcements so Apple can get all the heat focused on them until later this month when they can have the new MBP deployed worldwide in large quantities and be able to say "on sale today." and "Let the feeding frenzy begin."
On the other hand, because of Apple-Expo Paris, I think the MBP still has a better than 50% chance of being introduced tomorrow. Three years ago they introduced the revoluitonary Aluminium 15" PowerMac G4's @1.25GHz with USB 2 and FW 800 for the first time in a mobile Mac. I bought one a month later when Panther was introduced.

are people not expecting merom to go immediately into the macbook as well? i don't see a reason for apple to purposely gimp their best-selling notebook when a merom chip is supposed to cost the same as its yonah counterpart.

And remarkably inaccurate when I looked myself up. It has a bit of correct information on my parents. I'm actually surprised at how wrong they were since I have a fairly large internet footprint (of course, these guys probably don't have Google's database since they're just skimming).
