Because the 3rd party device could be in your neighbours house so your neighbour can see or hear anything that is played through AirPlay from your devices without you knowing. And you might be playing stuff that you wouldn't want your neighbour to see.

He means CUT and paste hence the caps. Not copy. i.e. The text you select is both deleted and copied to the clipboard. I use it a lot myself in Windows and do miss it in OSX. Also allows you to easily move files around by CUT and pasting them :D

As far as using it for moving files, I don't use it because I always assumed, probably wrongly, that there was some file size limit or that it could affect performance when using it for large files (I mostly work with huge ProRes files. Maybe I think that because of old Photoshop error windows, when closing the application, saying clipboard failed to save due to size?
Actually what annoys me in SL to no end is lack of file size sorting in Finder search (CMD+F) and the changes to Finder search like not being able to select which disk you're searching. If there is a way please inform me!

Identity theft is not malware and it's not targeted at just Mac or Windows. It can be done without using computers at all. There is no antivirus software that can protect a computer from the user's own stupidity or gullibility.
If you said "not just" I might agree. But if you think keyboard capture code isn't being used for identity threat and/or want to lump anyone who has every run into such malware as "stupid" or "gullible" well my opinion of you just keeps dropping even lower. Perhaps I can interest you in some kryptonite Superman?

My Predictions:
1) Apple Movie Store, probably with a limited scope, but a start.
2) New Apple Airport Express Base station that streams video content as well as music.
3) New Apple Cinema Displays that have built in wireless to interact with 2) above as well as your computer...You heard it here first. ;)
HOPING for the eagerly awaited Apple media centre/PVR thingie...but doubt it. :( If this replaces 2) with an added hard drive and DVD burner I will go crazy.

As for the rest, so what. If you're doing a crime, and the police get a warrant to your computer, they will be able to trace where the phone has been. If it doesn't mesh with what you told them, you will have some explaining to do. If you're the victim of a crime, it will give lots of evidence to the holder of a warrant for the contents of your computer.
I mean, seriously. GPS chips in small devices mean I have GPS applications that show me the way. I can, with a group of similarly consenting friends or family, know where each other is at any time.
Other people make much of the fact that cellphone data itself is not covered by warrants, according to recent court decisions. So a policeman can simply call up AT&T or Verizon, present his credentials, and get a complete accounting of where your phone has been, and when it made calls. No voice data, so I really don't think it's covered by the 4th Amendment. After all, if you walk about in a public place, people have the right to see you. And take your picture, if you're under surveillance.
To defend our rights, first have a realistic notion of what those rights consist in.

It also depends if you can run multiple instances of that application. A little help here Multimedia? I know you've used multiple instances of Toast. Care to enlighten us on what other applications we can do the same? Maybe we should make a guide on it...Preemble clarification: I use Toast (http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html) in a highly unorthodox way - nothing to do with writing DVDs or CDs. I use it most of the time to write DVD IMAGES that Handbrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/) understands how to make priistine mp4 files from. I am able to reduce a 4.3GB original EyeTV HD broadcast recording down to 351MB using this method. The result is an excellent, albeit soft, version of the original that can go on an iPod or two on a CD and when played on an analog TV from the iPod looks just like a DVD. On a HD monitor it still looks great. Just a little soft. Sound quality is identical to the original.
I haven't explored what else we can run simultaneously beyond Toast (http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html) and Handbrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/). I can run as many instances of those as I like. But I run out of cores even just running both of them because they will each use more than two cores given the chance to run alone. Running them simultaneously even with a second Handbrake running third, still gets all the jobs done faster than waiting for two to run and then running the third. Handbrake will process up to about 150-160 fps when two copies are running while it will process only about 93-100 fps alone.
Handbrake FPS readings vary a lot between the analysis pass and the writing pass - much slower writing on the second pass than studying-planning the writing scheme on the first pass on both the Quad and the Mac Pro. On the Mac Pro, Toast will use almost all 4 cores given no competition. But so far I'm not convinced it is encoding EyeTV recordings for DVD images much faster than it does on teh Quad - yes 7.1 UB. I need to go back and exact time some encodes on the Mac Pro then compare that here on the Quad to tell.
Just tried to launch a second copy of EyeTV and it's a no go. Maybe if I have another liscense with another tuner like the new hybrid it will work with a second copy - don't know yet. Probably getting an EyeTV hybrid tuner (http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=products_eyetvhybridna) soon so I can record two HD shows at once.

I looked through some of his older posts, and while none of them are quite as obvious about how shallow and uncaring he is you can tell that he probably doesn't include the whole story. For example, he likes to argue with his neighbors (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=978345&highlight=) I'm guessing that we only got half the story in that thread. You may certainly be right about this. On the other hand, I have encountered several trolls whose shtick (signature behavior) is identical to shallow and uncaring attitude. And the sense of entitlement is just typical for the trolls that were "born" in 2008 when the recession started.

I don't think Apple is aiming for the uber-geek with $25k worth of home entertainment equipment. IMHO, they will never be able to compete in that market.
I think they are reaching for the average joe blow that has a servicable $400 TV that he bought at Wal-mart, and maybe, just maybe, has a stereo hooked up to it. The average Joe doesn't care, and can't tell, that it's Dolby Surround and not Dolby Digital.I disagree. Dolby Digital is no longer reserved for rich �ber-geeks. Many "regular Joes" have a Dolby Digital setup now, and you can get a Dolby Digital receiver (all 5 normal channels powered) for under $100.

I guess Apple should'a put Conroe in the iMacs. Is there a chance this will mean Conroe will be in MacPro's?
I bet this go in the "Mac Gamer" regardless of form factor. Either the mini-tower or a revised Mac Pro enclosure.

I'll wait to see what it is before I say whether I like it or not.
I really like the current case design so hopefully they keep the good elements (like I like the black bezel and the light up keyboard both for aesthetic reasons though the aesthetics I think are practical when talking screen though the keyboard is purely just I like how it looks lit up :) ).
I wouldn't mind if the whole computer was a darker color, that would be nice.

I agree 100% with the sentiment of what you're saying -- I think the matte vs. gloss thing is WAAAAY overblown, but just for argument's sake, remember that CRT have a curved front screen, not a flat sheet of glass. That's going to diffuse a lot of external light just by the nature of the design.
