Bet your Sandisk player isn't as small as the new shuffle...
It does not have a clip, either. :)

Basically it comes down to iTunes compatibility vs. screen, as FM radio barely works and I have never used the voice recorder.

A significant amount of the news on this site (arguably, the most interesting news) is a result of the leaking of trade secrets.

So what's our view? "Give us all the interesting info, then arrest the people who leaked it to us!" ? Doesn't that seem a tiny bit... hypocritical?

I've been waiting 3 weeks to buy a MBP assuming at least that iLife 07 would be announced today. Yet iLife 06 is still in the apple store..ARGH. Absolutely no computer announcements. This is extremely frustrating.

I'm really disappointed with these annoucements. Where's the stuff for their computers? Leopard? iLife 07? It just seems like they're pushing into every aspect of the market as quickly as possible. A business is like a tree...ignore the roots, and it'll die. Not that I'm saying Apple's going anywhere, but there a lot of disappointed people.

It just seems ridiculous that they would only announce Apple TV and the iPhone, and nothing else! There's really nothing for anyone - every single person in that room, watching Jobs give his Keynote, without a doubt, has their own phone in their pocket.

The iPhone doesn't offer anything new to an already saturated market. If we wanted to look ahead at developing cell phone technologies, one quick glimpse across the ocean and we'd see it all in Japan. In Tokyo, their phones are their train tickets. One swipe of the cell phone over a reader and you're sorted. Internet and music is old news for them, as it is for most of the world. And a touch screen? Now there's a problem waiting to happen.

2 thumbs down for Keynote '07. Bring on Leopard and iLife '07! Satisfy your computer consumers!

Actually, quite a lot of 15" the low-range laptops are sold with resolutions of 1366x768. Our office is full of fliers advertising such laptops. My dieing acer is 15.4" 1280x800. Editing files with Eclipse is tricky. Of course, one can hide the application bar at the bottom to free up some vertical space. Besides, regarding the 11" air, the photos in iPhoto looked twice smaller than a post card.

But, having used a laptop with a similar screen resoluting as the 11" for 2+ years, i do think such limited screen space is doable. Personally, I won't lose much resolution-wise.

MotleyPete is a man of taste and distinction. Pay heed to his wise words.

For those with beards and home knitwear, and who like a bit of cask beverage, may I recommend The Brewery Tap in Chester, UK (my home town).

It's owned by local independent brewery Spitting Feathers and has their own products plus plenty of guest ales. It's situated in a magnificent Jacobean great hall, part of Gamul House, where King Charles I stayed in 1645 during the Battle of Rowton Moor (which he lost), prior to losing his head.

    The food is also good.

I don't think they sell Bud., but I may be wrong.

Don't even get me started on Natty Light. I went to Notre Dame for my MBA and lived in what was probably the No. 1 Party Complex off campus. You had apartments with Mercedes, Hummer and BMW cars parked out front and what was in the kegs of these cheap bastards? Natty Light. Are you friggin serious?! Not even Bud or Miller Light, or maybe even Coors, but noooo... Natty..... unbelievable. It was no surprise that we had people hang out at our place to the point where we had to kick people out if they weren't willing to contribute to the beer fund because we had Blue Moon in ours.

Mind you, Blue Moon isn't the greatest but it does the job for a Keg Party and is tons better than Natty or any of the big 3 for that matter. For our own drinking desires of the selected few, we always had a second Keg stowed in one of our rooms with Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen. It still shocks me to this day that I was able to get a hold of it in the middle of Indiana of all places and even more shocking was able to get it on tab in two bars, one on campus and the other in an Irish Pub in South Bend. To give you some perspective, Weihenstephan is a brewery outside of Munich and you can't even get their beer in quite a number of bars and restaurants in Munich. To find it in this hole in the world that is South Bend was a delightful surprise for me, and made the experience so much more bearable... (if you go to ND, go as an Undergrad, because as a Grad, the girls in the Grad programs are either nerds in a bad way or husband shopping and the Undergrad girls think you are a dirty old man....)
    Cheers,

    Ahmed
A lot of my friends love Natty Light because it is cheap... I don't get it. But then again I was a Guinness Man myself. Very very few of my friends liked it, which meant more for me!

    Definitely Will Happen:
•Mail and iCal updated to resemble Mobile Me
•Interface updated to resemble Mobile Me (more helvetica, less gloss)

    Would Be Nice:
•Major focus on graphics performance. Perhaps of a way for an 3D App (i.e a game) to monopolize the CPU and GPU, like in Windows.
•Dropstack and tabs in Finder, to obviate the need for Path Finder (for me)
    • New File System, whatever they started to work on after the ZFS licensing fell through.
    • Bring back the normal audio/video controls in the Finder
    • Tags
    • iChat removed from the OS. New Mac and Windows versions with FaceTime, available immediately.
    • Faster way to switch to Bootcamp in the Apple Menu (this was a feature in a beta, and they took it out.)
    • Better-looking folder icons with COLOR that stand out.
    • Resolution independence
    • Quicktime X with 7's features; Quicktime 7 gone

    Not Counting On It:
    • Editable Apple Menu, like in days of old
    • Copy and Paste in Finder
    • A better looking, flatter bottom dock without the stupid reflections (I have mine set to the 2D version now)
    • Blu-ray support

Sold... 299 dollars for that? Amazing.

That's my thought exactly. This is what I wanted FC to be all along. I found myself going back to iMovie time and time again because I was so sick of dealing with FC's quirks. This is going to make pro editing a pleasure.

My point exactly. Square institutions like Princeton and Yale are well known for, well, being square. It's no surprise a distinct minority of students there are Mac users (even if some of the rest are switcheurs). Take a walk around an Ivy League school with a student population in command of a more comprehensive understanding of aesthetics--Harvard, Brown, or especially Columbia with its boho-beat appeal--and you can't help but notice the difference. Students at these schools, unlike those at Princeton, are natural-born Mac users.

That, in short, is why it's wrong to paint all Ivy Leaguers with the same broad brush. You're not a bigot, are you?

I'm surprised you had so much time to attend every Ivy university in your 4 years as an undergrad, that's impressive. I guess you also know the ins and outs of every club, group, team, dorm, and department at Princeton as well. That really is impressive, I didn't get close to that in my 4 years there in engineering.

Having attended an institution that is so impressive (harvard, columbia??), as you undoubtably have, you should have been able to pick up on the fact that the 45% was not the university wide "market share" of Apple. It only refers to this years sales by OIT. Sure that's been on the rise, but many students purchase computers outside of OIT, as they prefer more custimization. OIT is a great part of the University btw, and they are very platform nuetral (I worked there for 2-3 years).

Anyways, I hope "mac users" such as yourself are on the decline. I'd prefer to see stuck up, snotty, bigoted, prejudice @$$holes such as yourself be drowned out by the masses of "Switcheurs" as you call them. At least they enjoy their macs instead of putting down people for their choice of University or their lack of "purity" as a mac user.

If this means I can finally use the same online calendar (either Google's or Windows Live, I don't care which) with Outlook 2011 and I'll be happy. Otherwise, I don't care.

I see that there are lots of angry people over there. Especially because of Outlook in this Office 2011. I don't use Outlook, but Word and Excel are my tools. I can say that i got almost no annoyances when working with them...

I say they just make the entire area a touch screen rather then touch pad. Then it could just display the configuration you desire. But the patent looks cool too.

    Edit: Oops, it's been mentioned.
