The best thing about listening to music on my iPod is I can listen to it wherever I am, such as in the car. Can't get wifi in the car, and no way am I tethering to my phone just to listen to music.
There is the thing about having to carry around multiple devices when one (assuming you have an iPhone) will do it all just as well.

When i just went to MR, and this popped up, I almost had a heart attack. wallet ready before the story eved loaded. I was quite dissapointed. i am waiting for this SO much. this is the one device i would bu at the drop of a hat

In fact your whole family is a hideous representation of the worst side of the human race. You should not be driving an M5 aged 16. If only the US laws were more like over here in the UK, you wouldn't even have started learning to drive yet, and even then learners are not allowed to drive anything that has a 2 litre engine or more.

The problem with Greenpeace is that they can't get over themselves. It doesn't matter to these self-important selfish ideologues if they are right or wrong; as long as they are advocating a particular position, they feel justified to take any action (legal or illegal) to support that position. Also, they don't care if they interfere with the rights of other exhibitors, companies who paid quite a bit of money to participate in the Expo to meet with customers.
I'm glad that Greenpeace was ejected from the Expo--it is exactly what should have happened, as it should to any rube or hooligan who can't follow the rules.

It's not...the press release says that Apple can recoup some of the money if Creative is able to license the patent to other companies.
I found that very part of the settlement very puzzling. If anything, you'd think Apple should be able to recoup som of the money if Creative isn't able to license the patent to other companies that infringe on the same patent, as it would show that Creative doesn't have a legal leg to stand on.

i'm tired of companies taking our privacy so lightly. makes a consumer feel like a dumb piece of meat. i hope someone files a lawsuit over this. any sneaky tactics like this should be outright banned by the government. maybe once we get some politicians of a younger generation in there who are more aware of these issues they will actually do something to protect the consumer from greedy and arrogant corporations. i hope but i'm not sure i will ever see this dream realized the way government currently lets companies run rampant.

Companies can certainly use this info for things like targeted advertising, but the folks who REALLY want to know where you, or more likely people not as nice as you, are at any moment of the day are sitting in governments around the world. This technology is nothing new, and it doesn't take a smart phone to be able to be tracked. My dumb flip phone is probably pinging a tower every few seconds and logging my location on a database somewhere.

You pay to have the right to listen/watch/use the data.
The data is never downloaded to your device to do as you wish, it's always held by the owners. or distributors.

I must have the missed the part where Apple said you can not have a copy stored on your local drive. But then again I am smart enough to to not fly off the handle about rumors with no details.

Not sure why people would get excited about an iCamera. There are many excellent DSLRs out now from companies that have a lot more expertise in building cameras than Apple. I'd rather have a Canon Rebel XT or maybe that new Pentax.
